Pastor Bill Matlack
Pastor William (Bill) Matlack grew up in Cleveland (Parma) Ohio. He attended Texas Lutheran College where he received a B.A. in Theology and Trinity Lutheran Seminary where he received a Masters of Divinity.
Pastor Matlack was ordained in 1987. He has experience in rural, city, suburban and mission congregations. He came to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in September 2007.
Pastor Bill is the Father of Jessica Cain and Josiah Matlack.
Jessica is also a Lutheran Pastor and is married to Wes who is a United Methodist Pastor. They have three children and live in Wimberly, Texas.
Josiah and his wife Yuan live in Seattle.
Pastor Bill’s first love in the Church is leading Worship. He is musical and has often played keyboard and sung during the Sunday Worship Services as well as our Wednesday Evening Worship.
Pastor Bill is a gifted Storyteller and uses that gift to “Tell the Gospel” on Sunday mornings.
He is a member of the West Bloomfield Optimist Club as well as The West Bloomfield Clergy and Community Forum.
In addition, Holy Spirit employs a part-time administrative assistant and co-Music Directors.
Pastor Jack Freed began the work of developing a congregation in West Bloomfield on September 1, 1969. Early worship services were held at Green School. Ground was broken for the new church building at its current location on April 26, 1970 and the congregation was officially chartered on October 11, 1970. A new Sanctuary was dedicated on April 28, 1985.
